Father Christmas, junior crafts and out-of-control candy floss were just some of the highlights at Gobowen’s Preeshenlle Church fair.

The fair, held at the church hall in in St Martins Road on Saturday, attracted plenty of excited visitors both young and old as the elements proved to be changeable outside.

The highlight of the fair was Father Christmas’s grotto leading to a queue of excited youngsters while others were left delighted with face painting and fun craft activities.

Brenda Cassidy, from Preeshenlle church, helped organise the annual event and was delighted to see so many people taking part.

“We had Father Christmas as usual in his grotto and he’s hugely popular as he is every year,” she said.

“It really has been an excellent turnout. We had a lot of mulled wine for the guests and there’s been lots of people from the local community to support us.

“I’m really proud that so many people have got and volunteered to help us. We had lots of hot turkey batches and hot dogs for the kids as well.”
