If you saw a load of Santas running around Colemere Country Park last weekend – you weren't seeing things, it was the second annual Colmere Santa Dash.

The Mere Runners hosted the festive fun run on the weekend and saw 120 people turn up to take part.

From the youngest participant aged just 18 months, to the oldest in their late seventies, the runners really got into the spirit of things.

Jude Mousldale, organiser of the Mere Runners, said that the event was well received.

"We started the Santa Dash last year – it was after we'd set up the Couch to 5k to get people up and running," said Jude.

"The third series of the Couch to 5k last year ended around Christmas time, so we thought it was a fun way to celebrate reaching the end goal.

"This time last year it was a snow scene after heavy snowfall, but this year was a lot more mild and we had more runners participating."

The runners received a bespoke medal and refreshments at the finish line, and prizes were given for the best Santa, the best family and the best festive fancy dress.

"We hope to make it an even bigger event next year," added Jude.
