Mark Drakeford has been elected as the new leader of Welsh Labour.
Mr Drakeford won with just over half of the vote - 53.9 per cent to Health Secretary Vaughan Gething's 41.4 per cent. Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales Eluned Morgan was voted out in the first round with a 22.3 per cent share of the vote.
The Welsh Assembly member for Cardiff West and Secretary for Finance succeeds Carwyn Jones as Welsh Labour leader after nine years at the helm. Mr Jones steps down as First Minister and Welsh Labour leader next week.
Assembly Members will vote on the appointment of a new First Minister on December 12.
Mr Drakeford said that he wants to keep the party "true to its roots in a radical socialist tradition".
He said that we wants to create a Wales as a "beacon of hope in a darkening world which works for the many in our society and not simply a privileged few".
He thanked his campaign team and the other candidates.
