Llanerfyl could soon have its first defibrillator installed in the village.

Llanerfyl Council is counting on the big heart of the community to donate towards its £2,000 target.

The life-saving device, which can shock a person’s heart back into a normal rhythm if they go into cardiac arrest, will be fitted on the outside wall of Llanerfyl Hall.

Community councillors are aiming to reach their fundraising target and purchase the defibrillator before the end of the year. There are currently no defibrillators in the village and the nearest ones, according to the NHS, are four miles away at Neuadd Bridge Caravan Park and five miles away at Dolanog Village Hall.

The community council is hoping to organise a cardiac arrest response awareness session when the equipment has been fitted in Llanerfyl.

Anyone wishing to donate towards the defibrillator fundraising campaign can contact any of the community councillors or the council clerk, Dawn Thomas Jones, on 01938 820272 or emailing llanerfylclerk@yahoo.com
