#STAYSTRONG This Time of Year: This time of year can be very tough when it comes to your health and fitness.

There seems to be a bit of a ‘lull’ in-between summer and Christmas/New Year, and we’re right smack bang in the midst of it.

It's dark. It’s getting colder. It still seems like ages until Christmas is finally here.

It’s not the most inspirational time of year by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe you’re even feeling like hibernating. Getting home after work and sitting in front of the TV.

It’s not easy to stay motivated during this period of the year.

In regard to your health and fitness, you’re also probably thinking you’ll sit tight and wait until January to start pushing towards your new health and fitness goals, and that next year will be the year that you finally get the health and fitness you’ve always wanted.

We wait, and wait, and wait some more.

But why wait? Why do we set January 1 on a pedestal for a new chapter in our lives?

January 1 is just a date. It’s part of the Gregorian calendar. It was actually made up by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 after he discovered that the Julian calendar (Created by Julius Caesar) was out of sync.

A little bit of history from Zenith Fit for you there.

So, the point I’m trying to make is that January 1 is a completely made up day. It’s just another day. So why do we put so much emphasis on it.

Don’t wait around for a set date to start. Start NOW! Why not?

What’s the worst that could happen? And the benefits could be monumental.

Yes, it’s a tough time of year to find the motivation to exercise, but you can use these next five to six weeks to get a head start before January 1, instead of waiting and wondering ‘what if’.

Let’s get cracking. Let’s beat this time of year. Let’s get a great run up to Christmas and new year.

Then you can enjoy yourself over the festive period, and still be in a good place for the new year.

Don’t let the next few months pass you by. Stay strong and use the fact that you’ll be in a much better place by January 1 as your motivation.

Then 2019 can officially be YOUR year!
