A TOWN unit which was set to become vacant when Homebase leaves Wrexham next month has a new tenant.
The Range, a variety retailer selling products in the home, garden, and leisure categories,is to move into the retail unit at Plas Coch, which will be vacated by the DIY store when it closes its doors on December 14.
Wellbark Property, managed by Associated Property Investors and represented by international real estate advisor Savills, is letting the unit from the end of this year.
The Range has agreed a new 15-year lease for the 49,332 sq ft store, which is set to be vacated by Homebase at the end of 2018, at a rent of £8.11 per sq ft (£87.30 per sq m).

The unit is located adjacent to Argos, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Plas Coch Retail Park, where occupiers include Boots, TK Maxx, Sports Direct and Currys PC World.
Charlie Greenhalgh, out-of-town retail director at Savills, said: “We are delighted to have secured a deal with The Range for this store, which benefits from being situated within Wrexham’s dominant out of town retail area.”

Back in August, Homebase confirmed it was closing 42 of its DIY outlets nationwide, putting about 1,500 jobs at risk, but that stores in both Wrexham and Mold would remain trading.
However, the company have since performed something of a u-turn in Wrexham, with the store set to close on December 14.
