TWO MEN were arrested after they tried to evade Police arrest by taking a short cut through the grounds of a Wrexham school.

The alarming incident happened on Monday, November 12 at around 4pm when the men decided to take a short cut through the field of Gwersyllt Community Primary School, but were apprehended by Police soon afterwards, with no harm done to any of the children.

North Wales Police confirmed that the two local men, aged 18 and 19, were wanted for a burglary and for breaching the terms of a community order respectively, but both had now been released pending further inquiries.

Mr Joel Moore, Headteacher of the school, has written to parents to reassure them that their children were safe during the incident and clear up any matters that may have concerned both parents and pupils.

He said: "The two men used the school grounds as a means to escape from the public road and access the railway line behind the school. Playmates were inside the foundation phase building with the leading members of staff.

"The Police remained on site for 10 minutes until all were assured that the two persons had been taken in."
