A TALENTED local artist has released a poignant charity single to depict the effect of the war on past and future generations.

Cal Roberts, of Bagillt, released the single "We Were Young Once" with the help of 100 singers - to reflect the 100 years since Armistice Day - under the artist name 'Skellum and Friends.'

Cal said: "So here it is - by far the most ambitious project I've ever done. I've always been a history geek and always been totally consumed by the loss of life during World War One. I wrote this song to try and put it in to words.

The Leader:

"I've had the pleasure of working with some some of the finest musicians I've ever met and I'm forever in their debt. Please give generously and share and share. It's all for a great cause."

The digital single includes voices from five to 70 year-olds, and Cal said the tune portrays the loss of life and takes "the politics out of it."

Flint Male Voice Choir are also involved in the production of this special CD.

The Leader:

A choir spokesman said: "This is a brilliant single written and produced by local singer, songwriter Cal Roberts and features many local artists and is in support of the British Legion Poppy Appeal on the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War One.

"The choir are proud to be part of this. Please support us."
