Llanidloes residents have transformed a popular cafe’s wall with a mural commemorating 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Volunteers from as far as the United States of America took part in the ‘Paint a Poppy’ art project at Compton’s Yard Trust’s community garden which is located behind The Great Oak Cafe.
The project, which took five days to complete, had artists as young as two-and-a-half years old and the oldest was aged 88.
Artist and project organiser Osian Gwent says the project has brought the community closer.
“This mural brought together a wide variety of ages and artistic experience. However, the real magic occurred as a spirit of unity forged itself amongst the artists,” he said.
“It is an immense privilege to oversee an art project of remembrance, in the form of creating a community mural painting.
“The final day was bitterly cold, but people still showed up, and I am delighted with everyone’s contribution.”
