Work has been undertaken to get Newtown's war memorials looking at their best ahead of Armistice Day centenary services this weekend.
Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council have purchased and installed a new remembrance bench to complete the set outside the Memorial Gates on the edge of the Town Hall Grounds off Back Lane.
With grant help from Powys County Council the Town Council has also refurbished and painted the Memorial Gates which finished the work previously undertaken on the War Memorial earlier in the year.
Working with local schools and youth groups, memorial stones have also been placed in the War Memorial on display for the weekend.
Meanwhile on Saturday The Town Council are hosting a Remembrance Tea Party on Saturday, November 10 at the Elephant and Castle.
The Town Council say limited tickets for the event are still available at £3. Anyone wanting to purchase a ticket should call the Town Council on 01686 625544.
