THE recently named Country Radio Airplay Artiste of the Year will be among those appearing at the next Welshpool Songwriters Session at 7.30pm tonight Friday, November 2.

Emily Lockett, who obviously has a bright future ahead, will be supporting the popular local singer Dai Robs playing his first Welshpool show in more than a year and working up his big annual Christmas show at The Hafren,Newtown

Opening the show will be One Crow Sorrow previewing some material from their forthcoming album.

“We set up the Songwriters Sessions tio give people the chance to be artuists, rather than just performers and not feel the need to apologise for wanting to create music rather than just recreate what others have already done,”said Barry Williams of One Crow Sorrow.

“At each show, we are looking to have one local act and one from further afield, thus providing a platform for local talent while also giving people the chance to see artists that they wouldn’t usually get the chance to see so close to home.

“We host a variety of performers, all with their own style, but who all have one thing in common – the desire to play original music. We have a supportive and keen audience which is growing with each show,” said Barry.

Already confirmed for the December 7 show is British Country Music Award winer Danny McMahon.

Sessions are held at the Monkey Puzzle Cafe, Puzzle Square with e ntry at £3.
