A Welshpool man has pleaded guilty to four charges relating to indecent images of children and another on possessing an extreme pornographic image portraying intercourse with a dog.
Keith Martin Charles Simpson, 43, of Salop Road in Welshpool, pleaded guilty to all five of the charges at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 30.
Simpson is charged with having a total of 2953 indecent images and videos of children, as well as 21 prohibited images of a child, and one of a person performing an act of intercourse with a dog.
Rhian Jones, prosecuting, told the court that of the 395 images in Category A, images involving penetrative sexual activity, 160 were videos. She told the court that the children were as young as six years old in these images.
Of those involving non-penetrative sexual activity, in category B, 40 were videos and 161 were photographs, Ms Jones told the court. Children as young as three appeared in these images, the court heard.
Ms Jones said that Simpson had the images of the "young children" because "he was searching for more extreme content", the court heard.
A warrant was issued for Simpson on June 10 after information was received from West Mercia Police, Ms Jones told the court.
Simpson will appear at Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday, November 22.
He has been released on unconditional bail.
