A RESCUE centre is hoping to dispel superstitions attached to black cats.

The Abandoned Animals Association, on Ffordd Ffynnon in Prestatyn, will host a Black Cat Open Day tomorrow (Sunday).

Carol Roberts, manager, said: "Black cats and dogs are seen as bad luck and are statistically the hardest animals to re-home.

"We currently have three black kittens who we want to go to their forever homes. We hope, on Black Cat Day, we can show visitors that despite their myth, they are not bad luck."

All money raised at the event will go back into the rescue and will help towards the cost of caring for the animals.

The day will run between 12pm and 4pm.

Today (Saturday) is National Black Cat Day.
