A girl who had taken it upon herself to clean up the streets of Llandrindod Wells has received an award from the town council.
Kacey Woodcock, 13, collected six bags of rubbish by herself around the Trefonen area.
Last week, Llandrindod Town Council gave Kacey a certificate at their full council meeting to thank her for her voluntary work.
The council said: "Congratulations to Kacey who attended the Town Council meeting last night to receive a card and gift from the members of the Town Council.
"This personal gift was awarded to Kacey as thanks for her voluntary work litter picking within Trefonen Estate in Llandrindod Wells.
"Kacey has worked so hard, showing pride for her town and is an inspiration to young people.
"Well done Kacey and thank you."
Kacey's proud mum posted about her litter picking efforts in September.
She said: "I want to say how proud I am of this young lady.
"My baby girl for going out off her own back around the Trefonen area and Aldi picking up litter.
"Well done Kacey, you've done an amazing job."
The post, which was posted on the Facebook group Llandrindod Solutions, got a huge reaction. Over 400 people have 'liked' or 'reacted' to the post, and over 60 people have left comments.
Kacey commented on the post herself to thank everyone who had shown their support. "Thank you all very much for the comments.
"I really do appreciate it, and thank you for all your support.
"I just want to make where I live a cleaner place," she said.
Kacey doesn't want to just litter pick alone, in the future she hopes to get more young people involved in cleaning up the town's litter-ridden streets.
