IT will begin to look a lot like Christmas from Saturday, November 24, in Llanfair Caereinion as the festive decorations are displayed in time for the Christmas lights and Grand Parade.

The town’s festive celebrations will take place on Saturday, December 1,with the Christmas lights switch-on at 6.45pm and the Grand Parade through the town to follow.

The Christmas Lights Committee is seeking volunteers to help steward the event and place bollards and barriers on the night of the switch-on.

This year’s fancy dress competition for adults and children has no theme and is free to take part . The judging will take place at the Youth Room in The Public Institute at 6pm, and then all the competitors can take part in the grand parade.

Application forms for primary school-aged children to be chosen as Llanfair Caereinion’s Snow Princess and her four attendants of two boys and two girls, will be available at Rita’s Cafe from November 1.

Parents of the Snow Princess and attendants will be required to decorate the float.

Forms will also be available from November 1 for children to take part in the Nativity scene and as elves and reindeer to ride with Santa. The application forms will need to be returned to Rita’s Cafe or to Viola E Evans, of Elkhorn, Llanfair Caereinion, by November 15.

There are still spaces available for stalls at the fayre on the night in the main hall where tables will be supplied at £5 each.

n If you wish to participate prior to the event or for any further information please contact Viola E Evans, chairman of the Christmas Lights Committee, on 01938 810481.
