FOR their ninth LOVE NEWTOWN project, members of Hope Church were joined by a group of volunteers from Riverside Community Church, Peoria Illinois, USA.

The friends from Riverside Community Church were on a week’s mission trip throughout the UK.

The team from Peoria, along with volunteers from Hope Church, spent the day at Cerrig Camu, a day centre for adults with learning disabilities based in Newtown, rejuvenating their overgrown Sensory garden.

The team spent the day cutting back trees, bushes and plants which had grown around and through the sensory garden meaning that Service Users had been unable to visit the garden for some time.

They laid new wood chippings, re-sanded the paving stones and made the whole area an attractive place to be in.

Pastor Simon Curgenven said: “Everybody worked so well together and we managed to achieve way more than what we thought we would be able to do.”
