Hollywood star Kevin Bacon stayed at a hotel in Llandrindod Wells on Monday night, October 1, before filming for a new movie in Llanbister the next day.

The American actor, who is known for his roles in Footloose, A Few Good Men and Apollo 13, enjoyed his stay in one of the newly renovated rooms at the Hotel Commodore and left a tip for the housekeepers.

Hotel staff told the County Times that Mr Bacon was “such a lovely man stopping for photo opportunities without hesitation”.

They added: “He said he had a lovely night’s sleep in one of our newly renovated rooms, Room 19, and he even left our housekeepers a tip.”

Also staying at the hotel was the film's director David Koepp, one of the most successful American screenwriters of all time best known for iconic films such as Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.

“They arrived at 6.30pm, had dinner then left at 8am this morning after an early breakfast,” said the hotel staff.

Kevin accidentally left his iPad behind in the room on the Tuesday morning. The owner of the hotel, Andrea Murdock, decided to drive to Llanbister, where filming was taking place that day, to hand the iPad back to the actor.

It is understood Mr Bacon is filming locally in a movie due out next year called You Should Have Left, based on a novel by German author Daniel Kehlmann, which is billed as a supernatural thriller. The story is about a screenwriter who stays in a remote house in the Alps with his wife and daughter so he can work on a sequel to his big hit but things take a dark turn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Also starring in the film are Amanda Seyfried and Joe Garvey.
