There are currently no routine or emergency dental appointments available in Builth Wells as the Powys Teaching Health Board start the process of taking over the practice from mydentist.
The health board announced that they would be taking over the town's dental practice after the company mydentist made the decision to cease providing dental services from August 31, 2018.
An emergency service should open for patients this Autumn and routine appointments won't be available until December at the earliest.
A transition process, as the practice moves from mydentist to PTHB, is what has resulted in dental services not being available in the town for the time being. The PTHB said: "We aim for the transition to be swift and smooth to cause the minimum disruption for patients."
Anyone with emergency dental treatment should call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 who will be able to arrange an emergency appointment with the PTHB community dental service or with an alternative provider.
Patients already registered with mydentist in Builth Wells will not have to re-register. The details of existing patients will automatically transfer when the new dentist is appointed.
