TWO of Powys’ Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) branches joined forces to celebrate the centenary with a baton relay.
To mark 100 years since the formation of the Royal Air Force (RAF), a specially-designed baton travelled from Brecon to Llanidloes for a special celebration event at the Church Hall on September 12.
Attending the celebrations were members of the Llanidloes RAFA, David Coombe of Brecon RAFA, and the Mayor of Llanidloes, Cllr Janet Crisp.
Llanidloes RAFA is the only branch left in Montgomeryshire, and two other branches, Knighton and Brecon, complete the trio representing Powys.
The large cylinder is adorned with the RAF crest, images of various RAF aircrafts and a white eagle on top of the baton.
