A man who died following a three-car collision in Powys has been named by police.

Simon Dodd, 53, from Caerphilly, died at the scene of the crash on the B4350 between Hay-on-Wye and Three Cocks, at a section known locally as Sheep House Corner, at about 3.40pm on Monday.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with his family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.”

The cars involved in the incident were a black Vauxhall Corsa driven by Mr Dodd, a green Range Rover and a blue Vauxhall Zafira.

It is thought the Vauxhall Corsa was travelling towards Three Cocks, while the other two cars were travelling in the opposite direction – towards Hay-on-Wye.

Dyfed-Powys Police have said that H.M. Coroner have been informed.

A passenger travelling in the Range Rover was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is currently in a stable condition.

The road was closed for a number of hours while collision investigation took place.
