Europa League, third qualifying round, first leg

TNS 0 Midtjylland 2

TNS' Europa League run was all but ended by a brace of Paul Onuachu goals in Cardiff on Thursday night.

The Danish champions enjoyed a dream start with Onuachu unmarked in the box to head home Jakob Poulsen's 10th minute corner.

Despite the set-back the Saints attack minded formation spearheaded by Dean Ebbe with Jamie Mullan, Aeron Edwards and Danny Redmond behind gave the Danes plenty to ponder.

On 23 minutes the Saints should have levelled with Edwards and Redmond combining to set-up Ebbe who teed up Mullan whose weak shot was smothered by goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

Five minutes later TNS were punished from another Poulsen corner from the right which was steered goalward by Mikkel Dueland for Onuachu to head home.

TNS saw out the remainder of the half and conjured the first opening of the second period with Ebbe firing wide from the edge of the area on the hour.

A scrappy second-half culminated in a succession of free-kicks and broke up the pattern of the game.

TNS continued to look to attack and stretch the Danes without testing Hansen with manager Scott Ruscoe introducing Adrian Cieslewicz in an attempt to get back into the tie with 20 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile Ayo Okoson headed straight at goalkeeper Paul Harrison as Midtjylland spurned a chance to settle the tie
