The family of a man missing since a massive hotel blaze in Aberystwyth have been traced.

A huge blaze ripped through the Ty Belgrave House on Marine Terrace in the early hours of July 25.

Enlisting the help of the Lithuanian Embassy, relatives of a missing guest have now been found.

Work is continuing to make the building safe so police and fire officers can enter and find out how it started.

Damion Harris, 30, of Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life, in connection with the fire.

Detective Superintendent Huw Davies said: "One man remains unaccounted for following the fire. His next of kin have been updated in relation to the investigation.

"The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and work is being carried out to make the building safe while preserving evidence at the scene.

"It is anticipated that access will not be possible until the beginning of next week at the earliest.

"Police and fire officers will then carry out a joint investigation to establish the cause of the fire."
