A COUPLE spoke of their frustration after being left 'in limbo' with an incomplete driveway.

John and Simone Smith of Church Road in Buckley told the Leader that in 2016 they were offered the chance by Flintshire Council to have vehicular access to the rear of their home installed.

They took the offer and bought the required piece of land for the improvement - in order to extend their boundary up to that of the Redrow estate to the rear of their home.

But now they have been left with an undeveloped gap between their new driveway and the Redrow estate, which has become inpassable due to weeds.

Mr and Mrs Smith have been told the patch of land cannot be sorted as there are pending legal arrangements regarding its transfer of ownership.

Mr Smith said: "We have phoned the council about this every single week and they have never resolved it.

"We have been left in limbo and it is very inconvenient - we're at the end of our tether with it."

The couple also have concerns about upcoming roadworks in Church Road, which will prevent them from parking in front of their home.

Mrs Smith said: "We were responsible for installing the driveway, the council was supposed to install the access.

"When the roadworks start it will mean that the road will be closed and there will be double yellows so we will either have to go round the back and drive over the weeds or park somewhere else and walk about a quarter to half a mile - and we have a two-year-old child. It is very frustrating."

Flintshire Council’s chief officer Andrew Farrow said: “Mr and Mrs Smith’s concerns have been documented over a period of time and we are dealing with this issue.

"As this is an on-going matter, it would not be appropriate for the council to comment further.”
