A WOMAN who was inspired to help charities after recovering rom a serious car crash has set her latest fundraising challenge.

Steph Edwards, 27, originally from Gobowen, is walking 35km along the Great Wall of China in aid of Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham.

She said: “I want to make a difference if I can and this is a small step, I suppose. “

Steph was on her way to work at Hadlow Edwards Wealth Management in Wrexham in 2015 when a tractor pulled into her path in Brymbo and there was a head-on smash.

She sustained several broken bones including her hand and ribs and she had to have stitches in her knee as well as treatment for a badly strained ankle.

It took about 18 months for Steph to get back into shape after the crash, which spurred her on to raise funds for charity.

Steph, who lives in Brynteg near Wrexham, decided to take to the ring for an Ultra White Colllar Boxing event in 2016, which raised around £300 for Cancer Research UK.

The crash put things into perspective, Steph said, and made her feel like she “just needed to be doing something”.

She said: “Ever since then I’ve just been trying to do different things and help people in different ways.”

Steph is part of a group of fundraiser who will take on the trek from October 19-28 for the hospice, which cares for patients from both sides of the border and has a shop in Oswestry.

She has already raised £1,677 towards her £3,000.
