Ysgol Dyffryn Banw have raised hundreds of pounds for two charities close to the pupils’ hearts.
In 2017, Myfi Pinder was born premature and was cared with the help of The Ronald McDonald House charity.
The charity provided accommodation for baby Myfi’s family so they could remain close to her while she was in hospital.
Myfi's brother Rhys, mum Kate Pinder, and baby Myfi.
Her older brother, Rhys, and his classmates prepared an afternoon tea at the school for family, friends and members of the community to raise money for the charity.
£200 was raised in aid of the charity and for ‘A Voice For You’, a Newtown-based charity which supports young people with learning difficulties.
Headteacher Betsan Llwyd said: “Giving the pupils the opportunity to develop their own learning enables them to connect the skills embedded within their classroom work with real life experiences. The children took ownership of the event and as a school we are very proud of their maturity of welcoming parents, grandparents and members of the wider community into school to enjoy this special day whilst raising money towards two worthy charities.”
A huge thank you to everyone at the school for their support! It's so kind of you to raise money in honour of baby Myfi.
