It could be time to fire up the barbecue!

Temperatures are expected to hit 20C in Mid Wales during a balmy May bank holiday.

The mercury is forecast to soar across the UK for the three-day break, with the highest predicted in the south of England.

This will bring fine and dry weather for Friday and for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will be dry with sunny spells and warm in many parts of England and Wales By Bank Holiday Monday, most of the country will be seeing sunshine at times, with very warm temperatures.

Met forecaster Sophie Yeomans said: "There is an area of warm air pushing up from the south which could give warmer weather over the bank holiday weekend.

"Many places in the south of England could see 19C or 20C, most places will be in the low 20s and we could see 25C in London and the south-east.

"Heading into Monday we could see the high 20s."
