TWO Welshpool firefighters, saved lives in Aberystwyth this morning as they waited for somewhere to have breakfast.
Firefighter Ben Astley and Crew manager Matt Roberts had stopped in Aberystwyth for breakfast while travelling down to Llandysul in Ceredigion for a swift water rescue training course.
At around 7.15am this morning (Monday, April 30)while waiting for somewhere to open they walked along Aberystwyth promenade.
As they crossed a road they noticed an orange glow coming from the the downstairs window of "Express" fish and chip shop.
Quick as a flash the pair went into action entering the smoke filled chippy and dealing with the emergency.
Firefighter Astley took two casualties out of the shop and then phoned Aberystwyth Fire Station, while Crew Manager Roberts tackled the fire with a "wet chemical" extinguisher.
The fire was out by the time Aberystwyth Firefighters arrived.
After the incident both Crew Manager Roberts and Firefighter Astley, enjoyed their breakfast before travelling down to llandysul for the training sessions.
