Tiger Roll won the 2018 Randox Health Grand National at Aintree on Saturday.
Ridden by Dave Russell the 10/1 bet held off 25/1 shot Pleasant Company over the last 50 yards to claim a place in history.
Virgilio, co-owned by Dave and Teresa Futter of Yorton Stud Farm in Welshpool, fell at the sixth hurdle, the Becher’s Brook.
Earlier in the week Top Gamble, owned by James Potter of Welshpool and trained by Presteigne’s Kerry Lee, ended eighth in the Randox Health Topham Handicap Chase.
It was a busy weekend for Lee who had horses in action throughout the Aintree National event.
Gino Trail led the Zut Media Red Rum Handicap before crossing the line with jokey Jamie Moore in third.
Moore also rode the Lee trained Eaton Hill to second place in the Alder Hey Children’s Charity Handicap Hurdle.
Meanwhile Distime, owned by Welshpool’s Jonathan Lee, a 14/1 shot in the Randox Health Foxhunter’ Open Chase ended in eighth position.
