A 25-YEAR-OLD man has admitted attempting to rob a member of staff at a Montgomery shop.
Defendant Simon Paul Jones, of Old Goal Road, Montgomery, pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of Luke Ridgeway at the Spar on January 2.
Jones, who appeared before Mold Crown Court via a live television link from Altcourse Prison, Liverpool on Friday February 2, also pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm to PC Andrew Taylor, damaging the £150 wristwatch of police support officer Philip Edwards and common assault against the same officer.
Jonathan Austin, defending, said Jones, who had a criminal record was eager for his case to be dealt with but information was going to be provided which would explain how he had got himself into such a situation.
Judge Rhys Rowlands remanded Jones in custody for sentencing at Mold Crown Court on Monday, February 12.
