John Brian Sephton Mr. John Brian Sephton passed away on 18 th March 2009, aged 69. He was born in Connah’s Quay, Deeside, North Wales and at a young age moved to Hoylake on the Wirral and was schooled in Liverpool, then gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy in London to study the cello. After study, he joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and then took a position in Norway with the Bergen Symphony Orchestra for a year where he met and married his wife Karin. He moved to the Royal Opera House, then to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) and toured with the RPO throughout Europe and beyond. During this time in London, his 3 daughters Jennifer, Veronica and Elizabeth were born. In 1978, John took retirement from being a professional cellist and moved to Newtown to become a peripatetic cello teacher. He dearly loved Wales and the Montgomeryshire countryside and was proud to be Welsh. He retired in the early 90’s on the grounds of increasing ill health. In recent years John made regular holidays to Malta to enjoy the sun and the history of the Island. The funeral took place at Newtown Methodist Chapel on Thursday 26 th March, the Rev. Ian Waugh officiated. The bearers were sons-in-law Rob Pryce and Chris Andrew, and friends Klaus Bromberger and Roy Evans. He leaves behind his daughters, sons in law and 4 grandchildren. The family wish to thank relatives, friends and neighbours for their kindness, support and donations which were received for Brynheulog Ward at Montgomeryshire Infirmary, Newtown. Burial followed at Greenlane Burial field and Funeral arrangements were by Leach & Son, Newtown
