SEVERAL sheep have been killed by “bloody minded” crossbow attacks at a farm near Llanwrtyd Wells.
Roger Davies, who keeps sheep at Traws Nant Farm near the Llyn Brianne reservoir, found two of his ewes dead on September 10.
“Initially I thought they were traffic accidents,” said Mr Davies. “But I was shocked to find them with both with arrows in them.”
One of the ewes had been hit in the stomach by a crossbow bolt and the other struck in the head.
A further three dead ewes were then found on the farm, and two more were found seriously injured and although one is expected to recover, the second had to be put down after an arrow was found through its head.
“This is just sheer bloody mindedness,” said the 62-year-old.
Inspector Andy Reed of Dyfed-Powys Police said the force has received a report from a concerned farmer.
“Appropriate advice has been given and I would ask anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area that they think we should know about to please contact us on 101,” he said.
