The summer fun continues with a host of events going on all over Dorset this weekend from fireworks, a chilli festival and flying displays.

The weather forecast is looking dry with sunny intervals and highs of 18C on Saturday and 20C on Sunday. 

Bournemouth Echo:

The Great Dorset Chilli Festival is set to heat up your weekend on Saturday and Sunday. There will be stalls, cooking demonstrations, talks, music, falconry displays, a chilli eating competition and a chilli cook-off. Takes place from 10am until 5pm at St Giles House in Wimborne.

The Swanage Regatta and Carnival reaches its climax on Saturday night, with the end of event festivities at Sandpit Field. Thousands of people are expected to pack the fun fair while a number of live acts play the main marquee. The carnival week will draw to an end with a spectacular evening fireworks display over Swanage Bay at dusk.

Upton Country Park is the stunning setting for the seventh annual Poole Town & Country Show on Saturday and Sunday. Falconry and birds of prey displays, Totally Ponies, Purbeck Gun Digs display team, ferret racing, a children's farm and historical re-enactment groups are among the attractions. The show is open from 10am to 5pm both days and entry is £6 adults, £5 concessions, £3 for children aged five to 16, with a family ticket covering two adults and two children for £15.

Candlelight Nights return to the Lower Gardens on Wednesday night. Thousands of tea lights will be lit at dusk in a variety of displays from animals to cartoon character. Tapers will be available free of charge from the crazy golf kiosk and the Bandstand. There will also be fire shows, entertainers, art workshops and live bands.

Special air displays will take place at Brooklands Farm, South Gorley, Fordingbridge, this weekend to mark the 25th annual Bygone Days event. There will be flying from the Yakovlevs Aerobatic Team, Tiger Moth, Spitfire, Douglas Dakota and more. The event on Saturday and Sunday will also see vintage vehicles including gypsy caravans, steam engines and military vehicles, brass bands, a novelty dog show and stalls. Admission to the daytime events in £4 and car parking is free. The ground opens from 10.30am.

Join a free dance class on the terraces of Pavilion Dance. On Saturday get to grips with street dance. There will be street dance for children between 12.30pm and 2.30pm with a session for all ages from 7pm to 9pm.

A special party will be held at Poole Park on Sunday to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Residents are invited to join in the celebrations at the park from 10am to 4pm. There will be lots of free activities from vintage cars to period fashion to inflatables, art, sports, martial arts and a family dog show.

Poole Carnival takes place on Sunday, August 2. There will be a procession through Upper Parkstone to Branksome Recreation Ground where the fun will continue with stalls, entertainment, fun and games.

Mudeford Arts Festival returns to Mudeford Quay Green on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. You'll find an art exhibition, living arts marquee, crafts and stalls, activities for children, live music and drama. Takes place between 11am and 6pm on Saturday and 11am and 4pm on Sunday.

The Thai Summer Fair marks its 12th anniversary on Sunday, August 2, at Kings Park, Boscombe. The popular event thousands of people last year and at Bournemouth it has now established itself as the most prestigious Thai fair in the UK. With classical Thai dancing and musical performances, Thai food and boxing, fruits carving, traditional Thai massages and activities for children, there is something for the whole family. The event runs from 10am-6pm. Entry is £5 for adults, under 18s are free.

Bournemouth Echo:

Free jazz festival Stompin' on the Quomps takes place at Christchurch Quay on Saturday. There will be music from Groovemeister, Blue Commotion, Lemongrove, Not Just Sax and The Taverners. The event is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, and will also host the Absolute Music Marquee. Music will start from 12noon. For more information go to stompin.org.

The Big Bournemouth Family Fun Day is at the Pavilion on August 1 from 10am-4pm. It will be full of fun activities and entertainment for all ages from face painting, Punch and Judy, bouncy castle, DJ and balloon modelling from Jamie Jigsaw.

The Sandfest 15 at The Sandford Pub runs until Sunday. This family fun event boasts more than 50 types of beer, cider and lagers, and 17 live music acts. Doors open at 5pm on Friday, with live music all evening. The festival is set to continue throughout the weekend.

Bournemouth Echo:

Motoring enthusiasts are in for a treat when Classic Cars on the Prom takes place on Sunday between 4pm and 6.30pm. A wide selection of vehicles will be available to view to the west of Bournemouth pier and there is no charge.

Fun science workshops will take place to entertain children at the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe on Saturday August 1. A variety of experiments including slime-making and balloon kebabs will take place at the free event between 11am and 4pm.

The Littledown Family Fun Day takes place on Sunday, August 2. There will be more than 100 stalls and entertainment will include circus performers, dance and gymnastics displays and children’s entertainers. The fun starts at the Littledown Centre at 11am and runs until 4pm.

Pokesdown Community Market takes place on Pokesdown Green between 10am and 4pm on Saturday. There will be live music from the 1950s Ukulele Band and gourmet burgers by Steakout Dorset. Plus stalls from vintage goods to books, children's toys and tarot reading. The event is to raise money for the local community. 

The Dorset Arts and Crafts Exhibition opens today at the Purbeck School. There are more than 800 exhibits to see and 200 artists taking part in the event which runs until Tuesday, August 4. Children can try their hand at making crafts during the workshops, plus there will be indoor and outdoor craft demonstrations and more than 30 craft stalls. Last year's event attracted 3,000 visitors. Open 10am to 5pm Friday to Monday and 10am to 4pm on Tuesday. Parking is free. 

The Priest’s House Museum has joined forces with the Dorset Wildlife Trust to give young nature lovers the opportunity to go wild every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 2.30pm over the summer holidays. There will be different themed activities each week and next Wednesday the subject is moths and butterflies.

Summer Breeze continues at Poole Quay on Thursday night with free entertainment, music and fireworks from 7pm. There will be music from rock ‘n’ rollers Rockin the Joint and swing from 20 to 1 Big Bang, plus get your groove on to B-Town Soul Cats at the Custom House. Poole Field Fun display team will be doing demonstrations, plus there will be a bouncy castle, hula hoop workshop, climbing wall and circus workshop. The evening finishes with fireworks at Poole Harbour at 10pm.
