Builth Wells made the most of home advantage to become the champion junior club of Wales.

The Welsh Junior Inter Club Championship was the last Wales Golf competitive event held this year, bringing an exciting summer of golf competition at all levels to a close.

From finding the Men’s and Women’s amateur champions, to the handicap competition for club players to win the chance to play at the Open Championship venue, from the Under 8’s on the PING Junior Tour to the Seniors Championship, Wales Golf events have catered for all levels of Welsh golfer.

Builth Wells’ juniors rounded that off in style in the competition between the six winners of the county junior leagues across Wales.

OTHER NEWS:

Each six player team entered the best gross score and the four best net scores, with Wrexham’s Jacob Holmes registering the best gross score of one over, Builth Wells’ Thomas Edwards just two shots behind.

However PK Jones, Lewis Witherston, Ruben Edwards and Harry Edwards had an impressive collection of net scores for Builth Wells, which Wrexham’s Hollie Curtis, Cai Griffiths, Oliver Heaton and Charlie Boys could not quite match.

Jones of Builth Wells and Curtis of Wrexham shared the best net scores on the day of three under. Reuben Baker of Builth Wells and Seren Ramsey of Wrexham were the sixth players in their respective teams.

County Times:

St Pierre were third, Neath were fourth with Lloyd Hughes also scoring three over gross, Radyr in fifth and Cilgwyn sixth in this tournament of county champions.

“Congratulations to Builth Wells, the weather made this a tough challenge in our final event of 2023 but their juniors certainly rose to that challenge,” said event director Daniel Fullager.

“There was plenty of good play from all who had won their way through to this event, but in the end it was a team effort which saw Builth coming out on top.

“It rounds off a successful season of Wales Golf championships, which have offered opportunities of national competition for all levels of golfer in Wales.

“Plans are already in place for much of the 2024 season and we look forward to seeing another group of Welsh champions emerge.”
