I admit to waiting for ages for someone else to write about the various traffic slowing moves in Welshpool.
We are all limited in our access to the town and parking on the main street is a nightmare for the elderly (as I am).
Every time we got to shop via Red Bank I consider the impossibility of an ambulance or fire engine using the same road in an emergency.
The pavements have been extended and blocked (why? In case anyone should drive up in their haste to reach Tesco?)
No one would even think of speeding between St Mary’s and The Grapes unless an ambulance or fire engine wished to reach a person or persons in dire need anywhere in the area.
All over town pavements and bollards are placed, along with speed limits, to obstruct fast progress and apparently save lives.
It’s bad enough worrying that the Air Ambulance is to be less available to us – we now have a bypass in Welshpool and some sort of railway station, but access is curtailed every which way through Welshpool.
Heaven help us if someone was in a hurry.
Yours,
Robina Cooke, Welshpool
