Lidl is looking at potentially opening five new stores in Powys - with Welshpool and Brecon among the towns being considered.
The supermarket giant says it is looking for sites at five locations in the county including Welshpool, Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells.
The company confirmed it is also looking for sites to open in Brecon and Ystradgynlais.
The news comes as the British arm of the company celebrates its 30th anniversary and unveiled its wish list of locations for potential new stores in Wales, from Pembroke Dock to Newport and Cardiff to Brecon as part of plans to open hundreds of new stores across Britain.
The opening could potentially also create thousands of new jobs.

“As we celebrate our 30th year, our commitment to ensuring that all households across the country have access to high quality produce at affordable prices is stronger than ever. We’re planning to open hundreds of new Lidl stores but ultimately see no ceiling on our ambition or growth potential.
“This is why we’re continuing to invest in new locations whilst exploring innovative routes to expansion. As we look ahead, we’re excited to welcome even more new shoppers to our existing stores, as well as those we’re planning to open across the country in the coming months and years.”
Lidl said the list “indicate areas of interest to Lidl which are desirable for new stores” and that no decision has been made yet on whether to go forward with any of the proposals.
