HAULIERS from Powys have been protesting over high fuel duty rates.

Companies from Llandrindod Wells and Newtown have been at the Chevron refinery in Pembroke Dock and the Murco refinery in Milford Haven making a stand against what they consider to be "extortionate" duty on fuel.

Around 70 lorries from across Wales attended the protest, which organisers claim could go on indefinitely.

High costs are hitting a number of industries, with hauliers claiming costs are up £20k year on year, and the council claiming its costs have risen over £300k a year pro rata in just five months.
