TNS 3 Cardiff Met 3
The New Saints brought down the curtain on their seventh consecutive title winning season with an entertaining draw at home to Cardiff Metropolitan on Friday.
The hosts got off to a flying start in just the fourth minute when Ryan Pryce’ left wing cross was swept home from close range by Kevin Kauber.
Kauber doubled his tally three minutes later with another emphatic finish from Simon Spender’s cross.
The Archers weathered the early storm and hit back to level with two goals in a five minute spell at the end of the half.
Joel Edwards lashed home after Blaine Hudson’s poor defensive clearance from Rhydian Morgan’s 35th minute cross.
Just minutes later a superb individual run and finish from Jordan Lam completed the fightback.
Cardiff Metropolitan were still buzzing at the start of the second-half and within a minute led for the first time with Adam Roscrow the hero with TNS stunned.
The Saints regained their composure and eventually ground out an equaliser after Spender’s right wing cross picked out Ryan Brobbel to blast home.
TNS looked to snatch victory at the death with Kauber denied his hat-trick by the offside flag before the whistle sounded on another championship winning campaign.
TNS:: Harrison, Spender, Saunders (Rawlinson), Routledge, Brobbel, Draper (Mullan), Hudson, Ebbe, Clark (Cieslewicz), Pryce, Kauber. Subs: Jones, Holland, Bower.
