BUILTH Wells Rugby Club have moved forward with ambitious plans to form a women’s side next season.
Women’s rugby has developed in the north of the county with senior sides at COBRA and Welshpool while a regional junior set-up has also been established this year.
Now Builth Wells, Powys’ traditional leading club, will join the women’s rugby revolution.
Coach Simon John invited all women to attend training sessions at the club which will be held every Monday from 6.30pm.
John said: “At first it will be just tag sessions but hopefully as it progresses through summer the club could start planning for a ladies rugby team.
“We must never lose sight of the fact a lot of the ladies attending really enjoy tag rugby sessions.
“It’s important to keep the balance right but the main thing is enjoyment and promoting women’s sport at every level which Builth RFC is totally committed.”
