COBRA were crowned North Wales Youth Plate champions following a thrilling 30-28 victory over Dinbych at Bangor on Sunday.

Dinbych struck early with Jac Jones crossing inside the opening two minutes with Dafydd Pierce-Evans adding the extras.

The Meifod side worked their way back into the game with a penalty from Cian Roberts.

COBRA led with two tries in quick succession as Joss Davies and Deiniol Jones crossed the whitewash with Roberts converting.

Roberts extended COBRA’s lead with two penalties early in the second-half before Dinbych reduced the arrears with a try from Harri Roberts, converted by Pierce-Evans.

COBRA looked to have sewn up victory when Harry Hughes crossed with Roberts’ conversion giving their side a 30-14 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

However Dinbych rallied and two late tries from Rhys Johnson, converted by Roberts, set-up a tense finale before the whistle sounded and COBRA crowned champions.
