MONTGOMERYSHIRE will be well represented at the North Wales Youth Finals in Bangor on Sunday.

Newtown booked their place in Bangor with a 22-0 victory at home to Mold on Saturday and will face Bethesda in the final of the Bowl on Sunday (12pm)

Meanwhile COBRA will also fly the county flag in the Plate final against Dinbych at 2pm.

Newtown weathered an early storm as Mold arrived at the Recreation Ground with confidence until the loss of their centre to the sin bin allowed the hosts a foothold in the tie.

The hosts made their numerical advantage count with centre Kai Lewis opening the scoring to establish a slender lead at the break.

Newtown’s superior fitness began to tell after the interval with Owen Randell scoring an impressive individual try under the posts to increase their lead.

Newtown sealed victory with a brace of tries from full-back Rhys Morris.

Morris broke from inside his own 22 metres and side stepped three visiting defender before racing from the halfway line unchallenged for the try of the game.

Morris crossed for a second try to complete Newtown’s victory and ensure his side went into the final in Bangor with confidence.
