RGC Women fell narrowly short in their bid for Regional Championship success on Sunday.

A 29-21 defeat against the Ospreys at Pontypridd saw the South Walians snatch the title and deny RGC their dream debut campaign.

Among the RGC squad was COBRA’s Libby Jones, Ffion Williams and Grace Hill along with Welshpool’s Grace Johns.

The international packed Ospreys led through a try from Natalia John, converted by Beth Preece.

However RGC hit back with Elen Evans and Rachel Taylor both crossing the whitewash for converted tries before half-time.

The Ospreys hit back after the interval with tries from Amy Evans and Kerin Lake with the latter converted by Preece.

Preece kicked a penalty to further extend the Ospreys cushion before Gwenllian Prys set-up a tense finale with a try for RGC.

The North Wales side laid siege in the final stages only for the Ospreys to settle their nerves and clinch the title with a bursting run and try from John, converted by Preece.

Meanwhile Welshpool slipped to a 15-10 defeat at Shotton Steel in the Game On North Wales Women’s League.

The depleted visitors were always in the game with tries from Sian Bailey and Disa Manuel but fell just short against their Deeside hosts.
