Cwmavon 7 Builth Wells 26

BUILTH Wells maintained their impressive run of form with a bonus point victory at Cwmavon.

Victory in Port Talbot saw the Bulls celebrate a fourth successive league win to climb to third place in the table with just six weeks left of the campaign.

Builth’s dominance up front was the deciding factor, with the pack taking every opportunity to gain yards at scrum and lineout.

The Bulls were awarded a penalty try from a five metre scrum to take the lead midway through the first-half.

Good work from a lineout a few minutes later released hooker Ben Pugh to storm over for his s 13th try of the season.

Cwmavon hit back before half-time with the hosts capitalising on Builth’s indiscipline which culminated in a try from Stephen Browning, converted by Cameron Bamford.

The second-half started in a similar fashion with the Powys visitors reduced to 14 men with centre Gethin Lewis receiving a yellow card.

However some superb defending by Builth held Cwmavon at bay until the hosts were also reduced to 14 men with a man sin binned.

Builth regrouped and ended the match strongly to claim their bonus point victory.

Scrum half Rhys Davies was the hero with two late tries following close range scrums before his side saw out the game and a fourth win on the bounce.
