NEWTOWN celebrated overall team glory at the Powys Track and Field Athletics Championships in Brecon last month.

Llanfair Caereinion’s Emma Gallier won the Year 7 girls 100m with Kuba Lewandowski of Crickhowell winning the boys race while Llanfair’s Lauren Bellison-Hodge and Arthur Powell won the junior events.

Meanwhile Newtown’s Natasha Price won the middle girls event.

Welshpool’s Gwen Kuipers won the Year 7 200m girls race while Llanfair’s Keira McVeagh won the junior girls 200m with schoolmate Powell taking glory in the boys event.

Newtown’s Ella Williams won the middle girls race with Brecon’s Simon Bayamou winning the boys event.

Sally Murton-Davies of Newtown won the junior girls 400m while Llanidloes’ Iwan Jarman won the boys race.

The middle girls race was won by Welshpool’s Rhianna Phillips with Llanidloes’ Rhys Hesden taking gold in the boys race.

Welshpool’s Zoe Baker won the Year 7 girls high hurdles while Llandrindod Wells’ Danny Hall won the boys event.

Summer Roberts of Welshpool won the junior girls hurdles title with Newtown’s Katie Shackleton leading home the middle girls with Llanfair Caereinion’s Dylan Nutting winning the boys race.

Builth Wells’ Tiegan Ward won the middle girls 400m hurdles with Crickhowell’s Sam Clayton taking top spot in the boys event.

Gwen Kuipers of Welshpool won the Year 7 girls 800m with Gwernyfed’s Jack Organ triumphant in the boys race while Newtown’s Olivia Robson and Llandrindod Wells’ Sam Jones won the junior events.

Brecon’s Beth Nelson won the middle girls race with Bro Hyddgen’s Jack Owen taking glory in the boys event.

Welshpool’s Maddie Griffith and Newtown’s Aled Breeze won the Year 7 1500m with Crickhowell’s Laurie Prosser and Iwan Coyle of Builth Wells winning the junior races while Callum Hamilton of Newtown led home the middle boys.

Meanwhile Welshpool’s Zoe Baker and Jack Lewis won the Year 7 long jump with Ryan Edwards of Welshpool winning the junior event while Ellen Jones of Llanfair and Frazer Hamilton of Llanidloes won the middle age group events.

Llanfair’s Jenny Jarvie and Welshpool’s Lewis Wilde won the junior triple jump while Llanidloes’ Hannah Pugh and Llanfair’s Steffan Evans won the middle events.

Welshpool dominated the girls high jump with Maddie Griffiths winning the Year 7 event while Nicki Davies and Rhianna Phillips won the junior and middle events.

Newtown’s Shane Kelly won the Year 7 boys event while Llanfair’s Finlay Braddick and Llanfyllin’s Will Morris took junior glory.

Kelly also won the Year 7 javelin with schoolmate Sarah Parry winning the girls event while Llanfair’s Lily Astbury and Josh Evans and Sarah Astley and Rhys Andrews won the junior and middle events.

Llandrindod’s Millie Forkings and Jude MacIntosh won the junior hammer while Forkings also also the junior shot with schoolmate Danny Hall winning the Year 7 event with Llanfair’s Sioned Gittins winning the middle girls event.

Llanfair’s Amelia Evans and Harley Symmonds of Builth won the Year 7 discus while Newtown’s Megan Costall and Tom Jackman won the junior events and Llanfair’s Sioned Gittins won the middle girls event.
