RHAYADER Youth Motocross Club hosted the Welsh National in Penybont last month.

A large field supported the event with the auto class dominated by Ollie Waters who took all four race wins in convincing style.

Consistency was also key to Romeo Roper’s success in the 65’s. Romeo Roper who won three races with Ollie Bebb denying him a clean sweep.

Sion Evans celebrated three wins in the small wheel 85 class to take overall glory with Jake Smith the only rider able to stop Evans.

Sam Davies took the opening race win in the big wheel 85 class before injury ended his weekend prematurely.

Llanafan’s Tom Wright stepped up to the plate with three race wins giving him first place overall with Jak Taylor and Josh Noon completing the podium.

Jaydon Murphy dominated the senior class with a clean sweep of four race wins while James Hanscomb seeing off Callum Beeken to win all four 125cc races.

Ryan Reynolds took top spot in the novice group after withstanding pressure from Scott Mayhew and Corey Szpadt.

Gary Davies underlined his pedigree by winning the veteran’s class races by over 15 seconds with Neil Thomas and Edward Jones sharing the second place positions.

Corie Southwood topped the MX2 class in style after winning the first three races before Rhys Newman won the final race after a spill from Southwood.

Carl Jones was fast out of the gate in MX1 with good speed in all races but Andrew Gillett prevailed in three of the races while Rhayader’s Shaun Buchan ended third overall.

Out of the girls, Emily Noon scored the most points with Shauna Hope and Shelley Walters completing the podium.
