MORE than 100 athletes took part in the second race of the Elan Valley race series last week.

A total of 93 senior athletes competed in the 5k race with 29 children taking part in the one mile fun run.

Ewan Lewis won the high school boys race in 6.23 with Rhys Lewis just behind in 6.27 and Morgan Hughes in third in 6.50.

Dewi Bradley won the primary school boys race in 6.30, just ahead of Tom Morton in 6.34 and Jacob Davies in 6.44 while Sofia Brandon-Higgs won the girls race in 6. 54 followed by Maddie Morgan in 6.56 and Mia Morgan in third after 7.00.

Builth Wells’ Tim Iveson won the senior men’s race in 16.50 with Phil Morris of Brecon second in 17.24 and Gethin Holland of Aberystwyth in third in 17.48.

The senior women’s race honours were won by Ffion Price in 16.57 ahead of fellow Llandrindod Wells athlete Heidi Davies in 18.24 and Brecon’s Donna Morris in third in 19.47.

The final race in the series takes place on Wednesday, June 6 before presentations take place at the Elan Valley Hotel.
