CHAZ Davies was content with his performance at Imola in the fourth round of the World Superbike Championships (WSBK) last weekend.

The Presteigne ace ended race one in fourth pace with Kawasaki’s Jon Rea taking the flag.

Davies led for 10 laps in race two before Rea surpassed his Aruba.it Racing - Ducati to complete a race double and leave Davies in second.

Davies said: “We did our best but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

“The temperatures were higher and I didn’t have much feeling so I was struggling a bit both in corner entry and acceleration.

“I thought I’d try and go with Rea but realistically I knew it would have been too risky. Twenty points is the best we could do this weekend.

“It was very important for me to be on the podium at Imola as we had so many fans supporting us. We would have liked to give them a better result but we still had fun.”

Davies is back in action in the United Kingdom round in Donington for the fifth round of the WSBK from May 25-27.
