Montgomery Cricket Club’s annual charity golf day was held at Oswestry Golf Club last week.

It was another fantastic event, with early counts suggesting the day raised more than £3,500 for Montgomery Cricket Club and Ysgol Cedewain in Newtown.

The event is now firmly part of the club’s social and fundraising calendar.

Chairman John Barker said: “A huge thank you must go to Colin Davies for organising the event so magnificently once more.

“He has been doing this now for eight or nine years and in that time has raised more than £23,000 for the two organisations.”

Next year’s charity day will be held on Friday, May 3.

Meanwhile Oswestry Golf Club will also play host to a Welshpool Cricket Club charity day in aid of club funds and Hope House on Friday, September 7.

St Giles

MEMBERS of the St Giles Exiles visited the Spanish resort of Islantielle for a five day tour.

Graham Evans was crowned overall winner following five days of of competition.

Meanwhile the club’s seniors contested the Nev Snout Trophy which was won by Tegwyn Lloyd (25) with 34 points from John Cufley (12) in second with 33 and third placed Tony Hall (11) with 32.

St Idloes

ANGELA Benbow (27) and Gail Beaurain (30) combined for 30 points to win the Australian Spoons competition at St Idloes.

Meanwhile Cheryl Hamer (19) won the monthly medal withh a nett 69 from Katie Hamer (14) in second with 73.
