MEMBERS of Hafren Cycling Club’s thriving junior section headed to Manchester for the Go Ride Track Club Cluster session last weekend.

The prestigious event was held at the National Cycling Centre and provided young cyclists from across the region an opportunity to ride on the same track as their idols.

The sessions brought together juniors from Mid and North Wales with coaching provided by Welsh Cycling.

The Montgomeryshire based Hafren club was well represented with a crop of its young riders saddling up and taking on the track made famous by Britain’s success in 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Fred Meredith, Rachel Williams, Ollie Jones Eva Griffith, Max Bufton and Bryony Roberts were all in action and represented their club with distinction.

Hafren CC has a thriving junior section with regular coaching sessions available for cyclists aged five and older.

Junior training takes place at Newtown’s Maldwyn Leisure Centre on a Thursday from 6.30-7.30pm and Welshpool at Cast Alum on the Buttington Cross Enterprise Park on Saturday from 10.30-11.30am.
