PHOEBE Richards will represent the Welsh women’s hockey squad at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The 62 capped Knighton born striker has been a regular for her country since 2012 with the Gold Coast Games representing her second Commonwealth Games.

Richards and her Welsh team-mates will be keen to improve on their ninth placed finish in Glasgow in 2014.

Richards has fond memories of the last Games having netted in Wales’ 3-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, a career highlight for the border born star.

Richards, who plays her club hockey with Buckingham, will be among the more experienced players in the Welsh squad aiming to take Australia’s crown.

Richards completes Radnorshire interest in the Welsh Commonwealth Games squad.

Long distance runner Tom Marshall and para athlete Morgan Jones are also on the plane for Australia along with bowlers Jess Sims of Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells’ Pauline Wilson and Cardiff-based Emma Woodcock who launched her career with Presteigne.
