CAERSWS martial arts star Halle Vaughan underlined her class with a successful weekend at the Northern Open Championship in Cumbria.
The youngster made the long trip to Kendal in the Lake District and overcame a broken finger to return home with three medals.
Vaughan is one of the emerging stars of the English national karate squad and trains at Lichfield Sport Karate Club under the tutelage of Sensei Matthew Hyndman.
The youngster did her club proud on the mats at the Northern Open Championships where she competed in the under 12s kata and under 12s kumite as well as the under 10s kumite.
Despite a broken finger the Caersws ace was crowned champion in the under 12s kata while claiming a silver medal in both the under 12s and under 10s kumite
The success maintained Vaughan’s excellent start to the year having been crowned Montgomeryshire under 12s sports personality of the year last month.
Vaughan said: “A big thanks to my sponsors Jason Jones and Bex Jones of X-Angelus Studio for their continuous support and thanks to Lee Smith and my Sensei Matthew Hyndman.”
